2013 YouthWorks Success Stories

Rainbow Child Development Center participated in the 2013 YouthWorks Summer Program administered by the Central MA Workforce Investment Board. Rainbow was featured in the Central MA Youth Employment News on Dec. 27 , 2013. The article is an employer testimonial that highlights the benefit of participating in YouthWorks.

“Barbara Malesky was placed in Rainbow’s Preschool Group 3 classroom. This Group is comprised of 15 children and 2 teachers. Barbara is a senior at Worcester Technical High School where she is  pursuing a career in Early Childhood Education. It was evident that Barbara had prior experience working  with preschool children. Her prior experience which is a component of her studies at Worcester Tech,  includes a six month internship at Worcester Tech’s Child Development Center during her freshman year  and a full year internship during her sophomore year. Additionally, she has interned at the Guild of St. Agnes  located on Granite St. during the past year.

Barbara was very professional and has an excellent grasp of Early Childhood Education. She had a wonderful rapport with the children, and is a strong leader. Frequently she helped the children make positive choices. Barbara enjoyed being with the children and they truly enjoyed working with “Miss Barbara.” The children readily developed a sense of respect for her, and Barbara was a very strong support to the teaching staff and deemed an asset. The teachers and the children were very disappointed when the summer ended and it was time for “Miss Barbara” to return to Worcester Technical High School. We are hopeful that Barbara will continue her interest and support of Rainbow Child Development Center’s Preschool Program in the future.”
